Unexpected help

While I was cooking dinner last night, for the sake of conversation I asked Adriel if he would help me set the table in a little while. Of course he was agreeable, but I didn't know that he had set to work this diligently. A few minutes later I walked out of the kitchen, and there was this! Needless to say, I'm proud of my boy.

Priceless!! The picture of Adriel captures all the happiness of helping that he must have been feeling. As a young mother, I know that plenty of times when something like that happened, I would express my surprise and joy, then rearrange things to make them "right". But the expression on his face makes me wish that more often I would have just left things exactly like they were and tried to eat dinner using the utensils that were chosen!

Yes, yes.... I try to remember to enjoy his help, to give him that satisfaction of truly helping. There are few things that destroy confidence like having someone pat your head and say "good... good", then turn around and re-do all that you did.
